Siriolnir

Auridon Map

Description

The Siriolnir is the great alluvial plain that occupies the entire southern third of Auridon, formed over uncounted ages by the Sirion, the longest river of the island, and by the silt it has carried down from the Etonir Mountains. It is a country without horizons in the ordinary sense: flat to the limit of sight in every direction, broken only by the slow meanders of the river and the occasional low rise of cultivated ground, with no mountain visible from any point within it.

The land is fertile beyond any other district of Auridon and has been worked continuously since the Merethic Era. According to the folklore, the richness of the soil is due to the minerals of a meteor fallen over the Etonir during the Daedric Dissociation. The deep woods of the Siriolnir were once the country into which the Bosmer withdrew after the Elven Wars. It was from those same forests, around year 3E3000, that the necromantic plague of the Lich-King first issued, and it was the Bosmer of the Siriolnir who suffered first and most completely under it.

In the Age of Men the plain became one of the great battlefields of Auridon, and it was here, in 4E92, that the Battle of Siriolnir was fought between the Crimson King and Neberyx, in which the former took the wound that would in time prove fatal.
