The Goblin Gate
Around year 2E13k the Goblin Gate opened over the western lands of Hammerfell occupied by the Dwemer kingdom of Dwemereth. The Gate was a great rift in space and time, suspended high above the province, and it served as a passage between Nirn and another world whose nature was never determined. Through it came a breed of giant Goblins, larger and more warlike than the Goblins of later ages, led by and devoted to the god Malooc. The host that issued from the Gate was very great, and for as long as the rift remained open it furnished the invaders with reinforcements that could not be exhausted by ordinary means.
The Goblins fell upon the western holdings and razed what they reached. The clan of Dwemer who held the territory, the Rourken Clan, pressed by an enemy that could not be reduced by attrition, were compelled to address the Gate itself rather than the host that poured from it. By means the records do not preserve, they sealed the rift, severing the invaders from their own world and from the reinforcements that had sustained them. The Goblins already on Nirn, cut off and leaderless, were thereafter defeated and subdued. The Dwemer of the western territories held their region, and the captives taken in the subjugation passed into the labour of the kingdom.
It is rumored that parts of the hordes of gaint Goblins were able to escape the Dwemer and managed to cross the Abecean Sea and reach the isles of Yokuda.
